Brrrrrr!!!

Just seen Admin's reply to SiDHEAD's post "temperature woe's"
Seems like good advice,
temperature gauge reads very high even at idle
So it would be worth my while to replace the thermostatthanks Unicorn
-
definately, especially as the temperature is reading very high
-
Thermostat changed, full coolant flush and changed to higher rate coolant & burped the system when i refilled it.
i done the usual, refilled it through the top of radiator, had the blower on full, squeezed the top and bottom rad hoses to burp all the air out, i got it up to operating temp and left it for about 20mins before i put a new cap on the rad and topped up coolant resevoir, and checked for leaks.
The fan kicked in a few times so i was happy enough relay is working fine. But here's a good one, the temp needle is reading off the gauge,
5mins of driving needle goes more or less straight up to 3 quarter mark,
and after 10mins it sits on the red!!!!!what are you meant to do in a situation like that?? :?:
-
waterpump!
-
should there not be some noise coming from it? (bearing)
or some sign of leak from that area?
-
it might just be on its way out so no noise (I'm yet to hear a noisey one) or damp patches.
-
Good man, Thanks for that
thats next on my list.
-
see if you can get it tested cos I've heard its hard to change.
-
I'm just researching it at the minute.
it doesn't seem to be too bad,
it's just getting parts for it is an absolute pig,
its a 1.5L DOHC autozam Az3
i just looked at the engine block
It has B55i-4 as the code, is this the the same as european 1.6L??
-
you could rip my arm off then beat me with the soggy end and I'd still not know what you just asked!
-
the.6 code is b6, b6de or b6ze i think. it may fit though, as the 1.6 may use the same block just bored out a bit more.
-
might be the same as the 94-98 323f ba 1.5l?
-
see
-
easy way to test waterpump take the hose off the pump and start it to see if the impellers come off the shaft you should feel pressure sucking in or blowing out depending of witch one you take off
-
Thanks guys for all the help,
I'll test that water pump as soon as possible, has anyone changed their heater core??
is there much involved?
-
most of the center concle its right above the ecu
-
nice
drippy drippy bang fizzle
-
I by-passed the heater core at the weekend,
the temp is much more stable now, its sitting on the halfway mark
crisis averted for the moment
I've to pick up a airmix cable and heater core next weekThanks for all the help guys
-
i pulled the dash at the weekend to fix air mix doors and put in new cable,
i put the dash back and reconnected everything.now temp gauge isn't reading at all, ive lost orange light for petrol and
blue light for full beams,
fuses all seem fine and ive rechecked all connections to gaugesAny ideas???? :?
-
sure everythings plugged up right? bulbs maybe burnt out? sometimes you have to disconnect and reconnect … it's weird.
