Project Blaze KL-ZE

@mickthemaverick thanks buddy. With all this time on my hands, the mx3 is getting some well deserved attention
-
@mazdax3 looks good mate, and I know what you mean, mine has been sat for a couple of years waiting... finally getting stuff done!
-
@jono I'm actually getting more done than I planned, costing a little more but what the heck.
Today's shenanigans...

Before 🤢 and after 👌🏻

@mazdax3 Good work :D Shaping up nicely!
-
@marco you're still here... Been a while fella.
Atm I'm waiting for things to sell on ebay so I can push forward with the build, funds are sadly starting to run low but that was inevitable. This build will be done by the end of the year including...
Rocket style custom kit
Sunroof deleat
Spare wheel well deleat
Flat floor
Front splitter
Rear diffuser
5 stud conversion
Mps brakes
Huge offset wheels (still can't decide what I want)The engine should be done and in the car by the end of this month so the first time in 11 years I'll get to drive a 2.5 mx3 🤟🏻
-
So I made £400 on ebay selling broken playstations 🤣
So now on order is:Elring head gaskets
Ering stretch bolts
New thermostat
Engine crane (I'm starting to need a bigger workshop at home)Exciting times ahead!
-
Nice! Were your head bolts out of spec?
I remember buying my engine crane. My dad said sure you'll hardly use it LOL
-
@mazdax3 sounds great mate, you will love the 2.5, so much fun.
Interested in what you do with the brakes and wheels, that's my next area after getting the turbo sorted.
Engine crane is a must!
Jono
-
@marco I didn't care to measure them as I'm replacing everything and the heads have been skimmed.
@jono ive got 323f v6 rear bolt on hubs with 323f front hubs & 323f front cv joints (correct spline count) in mx3 hub carriers and wheel bearings.
-
So today I finally dropped the k8 out if the mx3, cleaned the engine bay and discovered loads more that will need doing.

Now time to strip the k8 of all the sensors and the k8 exhaust cams then finish building the klde

Progress has been slow this last week but the clutch and fly wheel have finally been collected. The clutch is being remanufactured with a strengthened, organic friction plate while the flywheel is being refaced, lightened and belanced.
Both heads are now on and torqued, some of the ancillaries are on and all the other parts just need cleaning and painting.
I'll get some fresh pics up as soon as I can.

Pics as promised

And I blanked the PCV valve port with a teenage mutant turtle coin 😂
-
The engine is all together (minus a few hoses) and is looking really good. Now time to source new parts which are becoming difficult to find and get the engine bay, engine mounts, subframe and exhaust prepped for the install.
-
@mazdax3 Looking good!
-
@marco thanks fella. I was hoping to have it in by now but I got laid off because of the ongoing nightmare so funds are running low. While waiting for some funds to put towards the build, I've ended stripping a lot more and painting/restoring. At this rate I'm going to be scared to take it on track 😂
-
So finally the poly bushes for the steering rack turned up 🤟🏻.
All ready to go back in but I can't help but thinking, all the work I put into this area and no one will see it 🙄https://photos.app.goo.gl/QDD7EmHh9P1vcqBWA

Quick update...
Got the bottom arms and engine mounts sanded back, rust treated and painted ready for reassembly. Engine mounts will be ghetto modded with some sika flex. Poly bushes and yamoto ball joints should be here by the end of next week.
Engine bay has also had all non essential hole's welded up with a skim of filler and has been primed ready for paint, the weather has been crap so have been unable to finish it. I also have gold reflecting heat shield for the bulk head to install.
Getting so close to getting the engine in now, just need a decent break in the weather. 🤞🏻
-
One year older today and felt really loved, nothing to do with the car parts the family got me 😅
-
Poly bushes and new ball joints arrived this week and are fitted to the front arms, these are now bolted to the fresh looking sub frame and it looks awesome.
Started again on the engine bay but yet again have been rained off.
While having the cover off I made a horrible discovery! The neighbours parasol went for a flying trip in the winds earlier in the week and have caused severe damage to the n/s quarter panel, the roof including the sun roof and the a pillar. I'm absolutely fuming and to top things the neighbours don't really seem to care that there umbrella has f#*ked my project thats been in the making for 11 year's.
-
So I gathered some enthusiasm for the build again as I lost it because of the umbrella incident and I got back to work on the mx3. The clutch master I purchased 2 years ago turned our to be wrong so that caused a slight delay but I got the engine bay painted and heat shielding applied to the bulkhead and the subframe installed . More updates to come this weekend.
