Centre console
-
Now that the wheels are sorted its time for the inside. Im going to do all the centre console in gloss black along with all the airvents etc with a pattern in the laquer. Not sure what pattern yet though. Thing is I bought a centre console cubby hole box thing that fits under the stereo built am unsure how to fit it. It's got a lip around the edge and this wont go in the hole. Would this be from the more swoopy dash or just me being thick? Its just that I know there are 3 different dashboard designs.

You might need to take the surround off first to fit it bud.

That was my first thought but it still doesn't look like it will fit. I've found this dashboard pic to help which is the same as mine http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1995_Maxda_MX-3_Dash.jpg
It seems to have a blanking plate instead. I think its one of the other dash styles that my part is meant for like these below

You have the UK spec, that part is designed for the import dash bud.
Get the dremell out. :)

You could probably get one from a junkyard or maybe check ebay for the other type. Just remember if you want to keep your foglight switch you need to ensure it has the right size hole for it.
The US versions are similar and have a space for the cubby and a radio but the foglight switch is much smaller.
Here is a pic of the US version (left hand drive)
I've also got a bunch of pics in my worklog of how I modified mine to make it double din… http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=592438#p592438
