Resonator pipe

Hi guys I found out some info on the resonator pipe. I'm no expert but I was curious as to why it had been blanked off.
Basically the air hitting the closed/open valves causes a pulsing back pressure which goes back down the air intake pipe.
This causes a 'choke' of air that slows the air down ! With the pipe on the pressure waves have somewhere to go and thus free up the pipe and make the air cleaner and faster giving more power !!( I got told the opposite )
Not trying to be a clever twat I'm just putting this on for people that weren't aware like me.
Mine is back on and the car seems to pull better low down .
