Garfy1981's - KLZE Project superleggera

Trust me mate I'm not megasquirt smart either I brought it for whole issue of plug and play. My system should use stock dizzy. Marco is running coil packs which do give greater control but I can upgrade to that at a later date. The set was 400 dollars shipped. I didn't want to spend too much as i'd rather have a LSD if the two were closely priced.
Looking forward to japfest too! :-)

hmm i like the look at that. how much was it garfy?
-
bad news!!!, years worth of sitting has left polished manifold looking very sorry for itself, two hours of megaris and buffing later still not looking good!, to the point where i dont even want to take it to japfest now!!, hoping i can find a powder coaters to do a fast turn around job. Otherwise its going to look pants!!.
Hate damm polished manifold now!!, takes too much tlc to keep it looking nice!, just want it sprayed and i can just wash engine bay and end of!!.
Dont want to spray it myself in situ, rather is was pro done.
watch this space i guess!!. :(

To Do for 2010-2011.
Right decided to set myself a little realistic list for works for up coming year, havent really done much to mx over last two years due to a number of factors, buying flat, having baby, buying house, recession, getting married… list is endless and poor car just sat there waiting patiently for some attention.
So her goes....... not in order btw
Corksport front strut brace.
fitment of aem uego guage
2.5 mx6 gearbox c/w quaife LSD.
fit megasquirt and dyno tune.
fit HOPEFULLY ( still no updates. :( ) lexan rear glass screen
purchase and fit full set of performance bushes from mx3.com wysbishops group buy.
Complately remove dash, and re vamp, with the 1990s gloss style of top half being flocked. Remove part centre console and fit custom carbon fibre plate housing dials. Radio removed.
Remove door cards and fit custom carbon fibre sheets, c/w custom e/w window control switches. Possibly relocate into centre carbon fibre panel?.
Remove speakers.Induction kit relocation/alterations.
Towards end of 2011 strip interior, custom roll cage to finish handling upgrades. Re trim carpets for kinda porche gt3 rs styling. Going for that stripped out but stylishly done look!! hopefully :?
Must do for may 2011 MOT refirb corroded rear brakes.
Full service, usual expensive oil, plugs, filter etc.
early 2012 aim, lightweight 17 inch alloys, decent branded bucket seats/harness.
hopefully stumble across a caron fibre bonnet and mazdaspeed front bumper on ebay.uk but very much doubt it lol!!well watch this space i guess!!!!!

started after months of sitting still, just need to clean it now !!.
-
Inspired by Keith i went outside for a couple of hours to finish what i started towards end of summer and that was to strip the sound proof bitumen out.
In summer i stripped the interior completely, apart from dash to start rebuilding interior to something a bit more my taste :)
Its amazing how many parts have come out and the weight drop must be huge, together with polycarb rear screen i hope to get it below 1 ton. (metric). There was 9kg of bitumen and even the weight simple things like a gear knob is surprising.!.Heres pics so far, ive still got to clean up the last of the bitumen, then may try and get dash out so interior can be resprayed and then re built.
oh i still havent started engine since May :(
-
Love the sound of your interior mod. list should look mighty fine!
-
Not much to report. Started it last week, turned over nicely.
Engine is corroded badly now :( it nothing like its glory days in 2005 !.
Almost got dash out. Is being a right james blunt !.
Also de springs arrived from u.s. very happy with quality. Will keep them stored ready for next years engine re build.
-
Update,
Full cage almost done, just front section left, sunroof motor removed and roof now welded shut,
AEM guage nearly in, poly carb rear screen nearly in.
Dash still to prep and re install.
-
Nice to see people starting to work on them again bud, and I do love the look of that cage..
-
Nice work on the cage, did you design it yourself?
-
The cage is not my design, but a sort of come from discussions that I wanted a functional cage rather than something that just looks.
The value of it won't be cheap once it's done tho!.
-
Just make sure you have got some X's above your head!!
I just had a hoop above the windscreen linked to a rear like yours at the corners and in the middle, but nothing above my head.
Its been about 3.5 years since my crash and i'm still not fully better (if I ever will be).
I'd give anything if I could turn back time and put some crosses / diagonals above my head!! anything!!
-
that is a sweet cage. Full race car for the win
-
Mmmm damn nice looking cage, Im into that but hopefully you never have to 'use' it 8)
-
Cheers guys, that sounds a bit shit admin, you must have been in quite an accident to get hurt through the roof!, I've heard some bad case from side swipes with no side protection.
Out of interest what's best harness?, told to go for 5 or 6 point 3 inch.
I'm not sure when it will be on the track. I think the time it's re built and ready it may be winter!. Unless I can get a test day In.
-
Yeah don't go less tman 5 point
Make sure your seat will take a 5 point, it needs to have the cutout between your legs for the crotch strap
If you get a 3 inch you are covered for pretty much any event. some won't let you on track if you have less than 3 inch depends on what your doing? and where?
All harnesses have a lifespan and safety standard rating. What you need to conform to depends on what events your doing. So be careful buying second hand as it may be out of date or only have a year left etc.
If its just for trackdays only I'm not even sure if it needs to be in date or conform to any standard. But just check out the info for the tracks you plan on using they will tell you.

I was stage rallying, you always get at least one car on its roof every rally, that time it was me. Rolled it 4 times down a boulder strewn slope at 60 mph. One boulder hit me in the head on the first roll, helmet and roll cage saved me.
Noticed you havent tied your cage into your pillars, you might be missing a trick there. you can bolt on to where your seatbelts were. Add some more stiffness, better than only having mounting points on the floor pan.
-
mmm that looks serious! That thing will be a track animal!
