Are MX-3's sutiable for carting a nipper around
-
Hi,
I'm due to become a father next May and I'm being told that a replacement car will be needed so that a baby and all their kit can be carted around. First of all, due to the new arrival the supposed new car fund is £0 (will be paying partners mortgage whilst on maternity as well as my own!) and I dont really want to get rid of the 3 just yet. I'm hoping to have it through 2 more MOT's plus its still a reliable rust free car.
So, will a 3 take todays pram and other kit and make a practical car for 3 people? I'm fairly sure that the nipper will fit in a car seat in the back and as she is going to be using her 02 reg 3 door Saxo for similar needs (have you seen how small the boot is on them!) I just want to get your thoughts indeed if you aree also in a similar scenario?TIA

Hello, I had my little one in mine for a while. although I waited until she was in here 2nd seat. She loves it!!. Mine has lower and harder suspension so I wouldn't put a new born in there. But as standard it will be fine and safe. The seats fit snug into the rear chairs due to their shape. And the lift up flaps in the boot are very handy if your putting something big in there. Time will fly by and by time your in a stroller and 2nd car seat there will be loads of room. It might just be bit tight for a year on space .

yeah i think it will be big enough. i managed with my renault 5 and the boot is alot smaller than the 3. infact the 3 actually has a pretty big and deep boot so shouldnt be any problems really. just be careful of that pedal on the right with a little one in the car lol. the V6 sings away nicely at low revs too

Yes. Easily. The only practical consideration is how long the doors are and thus how much you need to open them to put a kid into a seat strapped in the back.

02 reg 3 door Saxo
Which is a coffin made of Mr. Kipling pie tins. It's a miracle they don't crumple on contact with the air. I wouldn't put anything or anyone I cared about in a Saxo.

i gotta agree with the last comment there famine. citroen saxo is a ncap 2 star crash rated car ( please correct me if i am wrong, but i think this is right ). a friend of mine bought a damaged repairable saxo from a scrappy and we could bend the slam panel out by hand with minimal force and there is literally no reinforcement in the wings, which we again bent back into shape by hand. almost anything is better than a saxo. the metalwork is far too flimsy on these and you would think that as it is mostly new drivers that buy them, they would have made them safer, but no. sorry mate, saxo is a big fail from me too…

wouldnt wanna be in that

you may need the baby seat hook that was an OEM option for the mx-3. I'm not sure how it works and I'm not sure if it's necessary… maybe it's meant to be an anchor point?
