DJMARCOPOLO'S - The GREEN RIVET

  • Well what a busy bee I have been today, was at work and due to the awful weather nobody went out in their boats so was free to get my car into the shed and get cracking again.
I got my powder coating done last week and I have been sitting staring at it all week so cracked right into it today as I wanted to get the KLZE looking its best,
I fitted new rocker cover, front rad mount and strut brace that I got powder coated, wont be everyones taste in colour but its original and stays with Mazda's green theme for the Equipe but I had them finished with metallic lacquer so they sparkle
Fitted a new uprated top engine mount today too and sprayed that silver along with a stack of ancillaries on the engine to give it a shine.
Put all new stainless bolts in the rocker cover when the new one went on
Started on the pipes as well today so have nice green rad pipes and powersteering pipe, have a little secret where those came from and will share soon once all the other pipes have been done
Have a stack of stainless bolts on order and will start getting nuts too so everything looks nice and new and doesnt rust :D

The sticker I bought direct from a shop in japan :D :D

  • Looking good matey, got to do something with my wife's when i get round to it, brought it from outskirts of Lutterworth in the sticks, and there is cobwebs and all sorts under the bonnet lol, needs a good clean and some painting etc.
    Wayne

  • Gotta say thats looking rather good 8)

  • wel done bud looking well nice..makes me  i aint got one now…

  • How easy is it to take the cam cover off a k8, I'm thinking of respraying mine? Is there any special type of paint required too?

  • Dead happy with the way its shaping up under the bonnet now, got a lot more pipes tp change, have a lot more smaller items to get done next week too then the engine bay wont be far finished.
Tim, the rocker is very easy to remove, you can see all bolts on the top that you need to remove, a couple of things with doing it yourself with paint is make sure the paint and primer can withstand 100° temperatures and you may need to get a new gasket first as there maybe a good chance the old one is a bit hard and will not seal properly again leaving you with an oil leak

  • Looks pretty cool Keith, I like the colour :D

  • Good work! Intrigued by the hoses

  • have posted an item about my hoses in the general section

  • lookin good! green is unique but I like it…

  • @2ec4d02320=Mooneggs:

lookin good! green is unique but I like it…

looks good with the blue, got loads more piping to fit when my oil cooler arrives :D

As a tribute to the late and great "BERT" I bought his bonnet badge before he went to the crusher and fitted that today

  • Had a bit of spare time today so made a basic bracket and mounted my oil catch tank, then replaced all the pipes with lovely green - just like this site lol
Anyway more engine bay bling added with more to come, most of the vacuum pipes are ready to be greened too

Also got these goodies this weekend, a powerflow twin rear exit stainless exhaust (thats 3 stainless systems I own now) and a back bumper to match, will be doing some chopping very soon and then its off to paint along with the front and the mazdaspeed skirts :D

  • Looks wicked Keith :D nice attention to detail with the green zip ties

  • did you get your handling and idle issues sorted ?
looking good btw!. You should transfer your yellow PAS pipe to green also

  • @a193eb98d9=Garfy1981:

did you get your handling and idle issues sorted ?

Heya garfy, the handling issue isnt quite sorted, I am thinking it maybe the hot spells we have are laying lots of rubber down and then its being washed away now and again.
The idle problem is still ongoing, i clean the egr out its great for that day and then its back to it, I cannot get it apart so next time I will rinse with brake cleaner and then pump a bit of wd40 in it after and see what happens

The new oil catch tank has also done wonders to performance, I think the old short narrow guage pipe wasnt sealing well because now its back to being the animal I first fitted, it kind of felt flat recently but now its a monster again, also gave it some beans earlier and this huge whistle noise appeared, I have blown the gasket on the inspection panel on the top of inlet manifold so some gasket sealer is being applied tomorrow and it should be all good again :D :D

  •

Took the little panel off this evening that was leaking air on the inlet manifold and one of the stupid alloy bolts sheared - now I ahve to try and drill it out of the manifold

  • Good day today, I fitted my full leather interior and the difference soft leather makes it also makes it a lot brighter inside, the door cards have the saggy leather but had a chat with an upholsterer today and he is sorting that next week, it turns out to get the moulding to the door you need to glue and then vacuum seal them on

Also fitted a new pioneer cd today, its all black so suits the dash much better with everything else black in the middle

  • that looks bloody awesome mate! you lucky git lol

  • Dat is fully P.I.M.P. 8)

  • If you look back at my project log it comes around a lot that I do love white wheels on a car and today she has her mid 90's essex style white hi heels on again

I have saved a while for these babies to be done properly, I bought them when a set was written off over christmas due to a huge pothole, I bought these for £80 and fitted brand new tyres on them but they were in a sorry state and I bought the 17" KEI's because they were almost new but plain and boring

Today after a week away I got these back on the road, brand new tyres back on them and fully refurbed, repaired, shot blasted and powder coated in metallic ice white

I wont say how much I paid but I could have brought a brand new set of 15's with tyres for the cost of this lot

But they do look the shizzle :D :D :D and thats what its about innit lol

Next week is a new steering wheel and rear strut brace to be fitted
