Room to manouvre radiator

Look at pics 6 7 and 8. They go past the rad on the passengerside.
Also look at pic 14 too, it also looks like it does the same.

Also heard that some peeps swap the rad for a 323 one which is not as wide and that an MR2 intercooler fits.

not intersted in getting past 200 tbh, 160-170 will do me fine 8)
plenty of 1.6 mx5's out ther running well over 200 though :PI dont really wanna have to buy another rad though :) just need to open up the gap thats already there to pass two flattened alu pipes by it.

Fair enough.
You would have to make new mounting points for it, I will take some pics for you next time I go to my garage.
Which side do you want to pass them? pass or drivers?

There is definately no way you can move the radiator, there is only a 5mm gap at best on either side.

How about going to a local radiator dealer, wessex radiators in bursledon are recommended and give them the dimensions of the MX radiator and see if they can get you one slightly smaller on the width or smaller on width but slightly deeper, most modern cars use the same mount system then it would only need new mount holes drilled in the base

Good call was thinking something similar, its just the cost of buying a new radiator thats putting me off :P
although cheaper and less hassle than a chargecooler setup or fabricating something like this :o

The other option for you is a trip to silverlakes with a tape measure and fins something slightly smaller that way, as long as its the same height it will be easy to fit, if not something slightly lower or higher and replace that horrible looking mount at the top with some nice polished stainless or chrome 8)

As I said earlier aparently a Mazda 323 one will fit and is smaller width.
Your only looking at £20 from a scrappy. Shame your not nr me as there's one in my local scrappy thats the correct 323 to take it from.

So far ive got:
Mx3 = 747 x 360
89-94 323 = 670 x 350
94-98 323 = 704 x 325

Also comes as a Hatchback.
It shares alot of parts with the MX-3, you need the rad from the one with the BP engine in it.
I've been asking about the 323f but nobody in the states knows as they did not have it over there. So it might be worth seeing if they had the BP engines too, then see what size their rad is.

When I lived in Ireland I had one of those old 323 saloons, it got me everywhere for no money at all, I bought it with the clutch slipping and it lasted for 9 months until I came back.
Silverlakes is the way to go or if you wait a week my mate will be back at work and he knows the guy who owns a few scrappies portsmouth way and the one on hayling
