DJMARCOPOLO'S - The GREEN RIVET
-
Thought it was time the green machine had some loving so this week I stripped and have reconditioned the OEM alloys that came with the green car with a base coat, top coat and 2 layers of lacquer and will be fitting some tyres I have in the shed onto them during the week as the green car will get her original shoes back and the BBS 5 spokes she has now will be going onto the Equipe while the 5 Star OEMs that are on that now are reconditioned for Japfest in 3 weeks.
Equipe is also having an MOT next wednesday so fingers crossed but she seems all good after the loving my wallet has given her in april.
Then its a full £120 Valet beginning of May with a special new treatment that is a type of putty that is massaged all over the body work that makes it feel like the paint is made of silk 8) 8) 8)The wheels are starting to look glam (and I love white alloys)
TOTAL COST - £12 ON RATTLERS + 3 HOURS LABOUR

Project equipe is cracking along now
Up to date….
Old OEM alloys temporarily fitted while the Equipe alloys get refurbed for japfest, just realised tyres I have had fitted are 50 on the sidewall not 55's, will have to sell them now or lower it to make them fit
I have started custom building the sound system by boarding out the boot, today I have carpeted all panels in rear and have all items ready to fit next weekend or after work, the boot has 3 holes, top 2 are ports and the bottom larger one is for the sub, the speakers will be hidden under the mazda trim in the standard holes so they do not stand out as being filled out, everything else will be hidden under the boarding just so I can have a boot in this one instead of a horrible box
To get the sounds going inside I have all this purchased for install1 x 1.2 farad capacitor
1 x 600w 4 channel fusion amp
2 x 300w 3 way crossovers
2 x 100w tweeters
2 x 150w mid range
2 x 400w 8" splx subs
2 x 200w fli door speakersThat should get it rolling inside

Looking well! Is the equipe a keeper? :)

I am back and have decided to reset things from page 3, the Green Machine is now up for sale as I cannot have 2 MX's and I need the cash to offset what I have spent on EQUIPPED.
So to update everything from the start
December 2009 the week before christmas I saved the Equipe from the scrapyard and it was delivered to me at 10pm on the back of a lorry from a scrappy in bognor regis. It did not start so it had to be pushed off into a space at work.
tried starting it and found the waterpump had gone and the cambelt had slipped, the starter was partially seized, the radiator had a huge bulge in it the front seat was torn up and all the brakes had been seized and it had been off the road in a field at a stables for 6 months prior to the scrapman collecting it.Got christmas out of the way and started on her in february 2010, did the waterpump and cambelt, stuck a new battery on and she started first time, then finished her off with a full service all round. Then came the 4" jap back box fitted, stainless induction kit fitted with jap mushroom filter, replaced the radiator removed all the brakes and cleaned up fitted new pin kits and pads all round.
Mot came along and she sailed straight through, the OEM alloys get refitted friday before japfest after a BRONZE paint session, the car has had a full valet and the front seat is currently being repaired, done lots of small things like wiper arms, fogs, all round led + zenon bulbs, flat wipers, fly eye and currently custom fitting a sound system.Total so far including cost of car + delivery …..
£ 457.00
and around 70 hours labour gone into it

I had 2 made up ages ago and have lost the site I bought them from thats why they are different, the japfest ones the font is good but has been stretched to fit so looks a bit bubbly :(
-
Just to update, the skirts and splitters are available for collection from the spray shop and today purchased a set of these for the car, will be fitting a brand new set of tyres to them in the next week or 2, I will update with photos when its all fitted in july
SET OF 17" KONIG TUNER 2's
-
Just spent the best £40 ever on the car this week, I had a full professional clean on the interior, carpets, seats and headlinings professionally washed and cleaned
I have had the torn drivers seat repaired only the bum head only did half of it and never bothered repairing both panels just the worst one so I have refused to pay for it as its not finished and they have had it 5 weeks
The interior is gorgeous and doesn't smell of fags anymore and the white is nearly back but the turquoise stitching has leeched into the fabric making it look a little dirty still.
-
Wheels and eyebrows fitted !!!
The wheels are Konig Tuner 2 - 17" alloys
Brand new set Nanking 205/40/17 tyres
Brand new 19mm tuner nuts and lockers ( imported stainless set)
Eyebrows are just black vinyl offcuts I found at work

Are those dials off ebay? How and where do you hook them up? I've been tempted by getting some.

The ride is amazingly smooth compared to the OEM and the BBS's I had on there, it handles fantastic, corners are a bit more confident and they are slightly quieter than the OEM's
The tyres aren't run flats just standards but I did find something amazing and that is the variation on price depending on the slight changes in size like 40's compared to 45's and 205 compared to 215
I checked all the compatible sizes for these and the 205/40/17 came in at least £50 cheaper than any similar size at £139 for a set of 4 inc next day delivery@b92fd06de4:

Those are exactly the dials I bought off ebay, I have had them for a while and they look fantastic at night, the temp guage is a bit unreliable as it measures air temp in the console but other than that they are perfect.
To wire them up you just need a positive + negative and connect 3rd wire to electric ariel / amp switch from stereo ( blue wire)
Then it just goes inline from the phono rca connectors (audio out) to amp in the back of most modern stereos then connect audio cable to amp into the out socket from back of unit.It does not come with a stereo mounting cage or facia surround, but the cages are cheap and I nicked the surround from an old sony head unit, if you dont fit a surround then you get a big gap between the stereo and the unit

Bought and ready to rock some more blueness :D

Those seats look especially nice. 8)
