thats the problem with a 16v engine and an auto box mate. As I said on mazdamad you will struggle to improve performance as you loose way too much thru the transmission.
A 16v engine is heavy. You have 2 camshafts etc that all have weight to overcome at low revs, thats why the car doesnt actually "get going" until you hit about 4000rpm.
Best way to describe it is like riding a bike. At slow speed your legs ache to get the bike going and if you change gear early your legs continue to strain to get up to speed. if you change gear when you have gained acceleration you have to put in less effort to go faster.
Not sure what your bhp is, but I would guess around 100 but then you are proberbly losing 20% thru the gearbox. Not a good combination for that size of car.
You need a v6 mate!

ive had a go at polishing the cam cover as you can see its not brilliant i cant decide if to have another go at polishing it again or to paint it, any suggetions?

I'd say paint it. or take it somewhere to get it polished. Its only about £35 - £40.

Another job for welly polish and paint :) so ive got..
Garfys Inlet manifold & Throttle body, my mates metro turbo engine head to port and polish (engines going in a mini), and Jay's rocker cover, anyone else need anything? lol
