Door Lock catstrophe…...
-
Argh! My drivers door lock is kaput. I put the key in the other day and the little metal keyhole cover snapped in two blocking the key from going into the lock. I now have to open the passenger door, lean in and unlock it that way. Any ideas anyone…..?

ummm…. try taking the door card n that off, get the lock out and try to remove the bit of metal from it that way

Me too!! Is there a 'smug' emoticon? :)

Well thanks very much, lol!
I've come up with a cunning plan to fix the problem….... Link my alarm/immobiliser to the central locking somehow.Btw, I took the door card off but couldn't get to the lock because of the inside bit of door metal. Plus, I have very poor spanner skills and was petrified of breaking something.

doesn't the lock come out of the front off the door when you take the handle off?

I've no idea if the lock comes out the front. I have no technical ability whatsoever and can't risk knackering my lock. In any case I've solved the problem myself with brute strength and ignorance. Oh, and a pair of wire cutters….

ye the lock comes out with the handle, its only to 10mm nuts and 2 rods that connect all the locks and handle s together 5 min job once door card is off

Had the same issue last week so dimantled the door handle on both sides its just two 10mm nuts holding it in then took the lock apart and removed the offending parts, took all of 10 mins..
