  cheers! got into work today, very smooth. There is a small rumble underneath you can only just hear, but I dont think its related to anything that I have done as it was there before, might even be something in the boot, anyhoo, all was well!!! im chuffed. all I want to do now is recheck the tightness of bolts tomorrow, and I will be confident, but it feels great. My tracking is slightly out the other way now, so thats not bad at all. I am a happy man!! I am not 100% sure what I have learned from all this, but I am suspicious that I didnt fit the new CV joint correctly originally, which was probably to blame for the lack of drive. I am not going to change it now, as the old one was originally missing the circlip, now it has one, its perfect, so I am leaving well alone. I reckon I made the mistake with regards the new cv, I dont think I fitted the drive shaft into it fully, I did bash it on, but I dont think I bashed it on hard enough, so I suspect it simply popped out a bit when I tried to drive. ah well, lessons learned an all that!!

  sounds good to me!!, i just get something in middle of the range with decent pads and good caliper service, id like to do a rear upgrade conversion but there is a bucket load of stuff i need to do first.

  Yes they are, but I would imagine the spring rates to be slightly different between the two accounting for the difference in engine weight.

  also check all the boots on the steering if they are cracked and split they are now an MOT failure so will need doing anyway :wink:

  Its ok to use it anywhere where theres no rubber, I wouldnt use it on a slider as thats got a rubber boot on it, though as you say, that could be nitrile and Ive no idea if thats safe with CG, for my own piece of mind I wouldnt, also CG gets really thick with age so might impede the travel and would slowly abrade the slider since its metal to metal particle, high temp silicone grease would be fine though. Ive got some nitrile medical gloves, will blob a bit of CG on and see what happens over night. Dans a bit low on funds so £120 for a pair is gonna be out of the question, plus theres always the proud feeling of doing these things yourself :)

  Yes as said 4 stud MX5 alloys will fit, funnily enough my car came with these carrera sport wheels which you do see from time to time on MX-5's There are a nice addition being 7J wide 8)

  I have done lock to lock and driven it 30 miles with no success. taken pipes apart again and nothing. we ran it up with top pipe off and it sucked in more air and filled the header bottle to the lid. Its going to a garage it must be locked into the steering rack :x

  confirm that link above is good :) it put a trojen file in the temporary files, clean then up and you should be fine. AVG picked it up my end.

  The guy said he'll lift it up with a forklift so should be able to get a good run at it. I'm just waiting to get pics, if its not rusty I'll be taking it. Just have to remember to bring lots of wd40 :mrgreen:

  ….All 4 corners replaced today, took 3 hours. Got bit stuck with knocking the old pins out but I filed them slightly and put loads of copper grease on all silders and pad mating surfaces when putting back in. All good but I had to revisit the fronts as the little tin sliders on the fronts kept deforming when assembling and were catching in the grooves on my front discs (its got drilled and grooved discs) so left them off and doesnt seem to affect anything. Please dont say that i've got to put them back on !
