Cheers for the help, was going to go with probe store for parts, but doubt i'll get any cheap labour done, i live in london and everyone rips you off.
Any ideas on the ease of doing it yourself.
thanks
yea thats why its good in courners. had a 100nx. i thought that was quick around bends. no slide etc. but when got my mx i though shit whats up with this but went to mazda and they explained everything and checked it all over. was nothing wrong with it. now i have so much trust in the car esp on roundabout. makes a few "chaved corsa's" think they are not an f1 driver lol
:D i guess thats my fault i wasent clear on what i ment thanx anyway but the bit i need is the metal wheel nut cover so if you go to the link below and go into my pics and theres a pic of one of my wheels so you know what i mean

uk escort studs are 4x110 and ours are 4x100. not sure on the US model though, search for zx2 parts thats the 'escort' that has some transferable parts.
zx2 is american so you'll have to look over there they would need modding to fit too as well as some other parts. You can get KYB gas filled ones here from fordprobestrore.co.uk, they are fine with lower springs (from reading on the site, hes pretty good though so id trust the KYBs unless somebody has some big complaints about them) I think around £250 a pair. other than that there are these:

Im geussing there are others but these are all ive seen over here. however if you look in USA you'l find a few more like tokico and i think koni do some inserts but you have to cut the shocks up to fit them (i'd steer clear of them unless you are very confident).

You tried them? ^^^
this is true! however bilsteins are oem replacements, so bare in mind they are only as capable with taking the drop as much as the originals. But when you take into consideration the condition that your originals are probably in you should get new shocks.
If I was doing it again I'd probably save for ksport coilovers off jeroeadsfaotel.nl or get koni inserts(which look easy once you look into it). Though the bilsteins have been grand so far…
looking at it that way. after doing all the playing around with cutting and fitting. i think i will have to order a set as soon as mr bank manager is nice to me. (dam i wish i still had a student loan)
@c6fa06daf3=Unicorn:
if Koni are designed for lowering id suspect they pay less attention to handling? :?
Sorry let me rephrase that! Koni reds are adjustable and are intended for use with lowering springs, and are often used by the yanks with coilovers sleeves. Think tommy d had that set up. So better handling ;)
KYB sounds reasonable, think the gr2s are pretty much oem style, but should survive a 40mm or less drop for a few years. Maybe could be cheaper to import? But I read they don't have ABS clips, so you would need to cable tie your wires on. Probably not a major issue though. Have a read on mx-3.com forum, I'm sure there's loads on there!
Found a cunning and devious plan on MX3.com.
WD40 where the center of the disk meets the hub then use a 12mm bolt through one of the redundant holes in the disk to push it off as you tighten the bolt. I think im going to try WD40 then mallet first.
Thanks for the help everyone.
