Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*
-
Cheers mate yeah a T&S bay would be flippin sweet :D Lot of work though and I've got quite a bit to do already, so we shall see….
Did a small amount of tucking though by folding those white relays up behind the bodywork, plugs in the far corner by the brake servo got tucked back in and also lowered the brake servo hose down along with the wiring for the wiper motor out the way, so the whole rear edge of the engine bay is clear now and moved the earth to round by the headlight.
-
Have picked up an Intercooler I think will work and fit into the gap behind the bumper with both outlets out the same side ( they will need some slight modding though)
and this very special piece of pipework to connect it to the TB
-
If you want a small intercooler like that sam the audi a4 petrol turbo has one that slides in front of the wheel arch liner on the passenger side, it would probably do the same on the MX if you moved the washer tank
-
Nah the intercooler needs to sit in direct airflow so it will be positioned infront of the radiator behind the grill , tis the whole reason Im using that smaller width radiator so the boost pipes will go past it.
You can have a chargecooler in the engine bay as that works using water to cool the boosted charged air, but requires pumps/tanks and all sorts..
I will check out the Audi though thanks.

What a great start to the Easter bank holiday weekend! My car is now being featured in a JDM Euro stance blog :D :D :D

..and to finish it off went straight through the MOT

Did a bit more lowering yesterday! @ -125mm the bottom of the coilover body gets awfully close to the CV boot and I ground out getting out the drive!
It did look frickin amazing though…So jacked it up to -110mm in the front, ground off those two tow hooks underneath and cut back some of the plastic guards.
I Wont take anymore pictures of the whole car though till I get my new camera for my birthdays in a few weeks :P
-
Its not low enough…. lower it more! :bigok:
-
ha ha your probably right should of stuck at minus one twenty .still got a bit of wheel gap so I'm on the lookout for some sixteen's in the future to get my Fitment on point :-D
-
haha how do you get around that low?! I think I'm about half as low as you
Great to see some turbo components back in the log ;)
-
Had to change my driving style fo sure, by sticking to the speed limit  or sometimes under! When I first went to work in it on Monday I must of bumped the ground about 10 times, today about 3 times so you have to drive slightly towards the middle of the road to avoid the camber and potholes/deep drain hole covers or completely miss some roads out all together :D
Does feel quite gnarly though doing a big 'ol frame rail grind :bigok: Going to look see what damage if any I might of done to the sump at the weekend and try and formulate a plan to fit a guard in situ.
Yeah the kit is building up nicely 8)
-
Well no real updates of any work carried out, just some more picture whoring!
Didn't scrape once today and the sumps seems ok so I might take off another 10mm and see what happens
-
I love it! cant wait to see complete pics of it slammed
-
Cheers Josh shouldn't be too long now hoping for a sunny weekend on the 4th of May 8) Fitting a replacement wing tommorow with Archenemy booked up for Sunday to come and roll and flare again. Had to pay extra to get them down as the local guy was out the country till end of May and I wanted it sorted before Japfest on the 12th, so the fella is having a 250mile round trip just to roll one arch!
-
oh wow, yeah that is a trip to roll one fender :) It is looking good, can't wait to see that new wing on there either. nice progress!
-
Aswell as His long journey down it looks like we might be in for some 60mph winds & rain on Sunday, us living very close to the sea it could get quite extreme!
So another pita thing about low is getting the car off the ground for work purposes. I have a three stage method now> drive up onto wooden blocks, scissor jack then fits undo the sill, then trolley jack under the front!
Old wing off was pretty easy really, managed it on my own :D
Replacement wing on.
whilst the car was up performed and Oil and filter change which should of been done a while ago judging by what came out…
-
Looking good Sam you fellow stance monkey, are you planning on doing a scrape plate underneath? I'll soon be getting rid of my sleeves to replace them with some coilovers, the lads car I'm getting them off is slammed and he just told me they have at least another 3 inches to drop :bigok:
-
Thanks Bro, I am indeed fitting a sump skid plate very soon as its had a few hit now, as have the wishbone mounting points and frame rails! Sumps the one Im worried about though for now.
Cool thats a big drop look forward to seeing yours with even more dumpage, its looking great btw according to your new signature pic.
