On the way to MPH

Sorry to hear about your car, insurance companies are bastards to be honest they never pay what a car is worth. As for the immobilizer on the 6 Mazdas with a card in the front of the folder that contains the handbook, this has the serial number and details of the immobiliser stating that it meets Cat 2 spec. This might help prove to them in already has one. But to be honest after they've screwed you on this I'd tell the company to fuck right off and go elsewhere. I'd recommend Adrian Flux they cover me for £200 a year fully comp :)

Unlucky man! I'm pretty sure you could pick up a decent enough mx3 for £850 off ebay. What did you put as your car value on insurance?
As for the immobiliser, surely you can goto a certified alarm fitter and they can verify and provide the necessary certificate? (for a price)
-
so you are saying that if i take my car car to an alarm place, they would give me a certificate to prove it?
Because i havent got a cert with my alarm, and i know its a full closure one!
-
Well I'm not sure, that was me assuming there'd be a sensible solution! It'd be worth a try. It's actually something I need to do too as I have a toad cat1/2 but no certificate. Might call alarm specialist 2mo and find out what the deal is.

Because i havent got a cert with my alarm, and i know its a full closure one!On my old 205 Gti I got a fitter to confirm imobilerser installed and working .
Gave me a certificate which I then sent to insurance company .
Think it cost me £10 but saved £100 on the insurance :D

just seen this post… sorry to hear about what happened fella :(
I had the same problem with my old 106 rallye when they offered me £800 for a mint S1 rallye!!!
i told them that i want going to accept their offer and they bumped it up to £1500.....
I took it as it was dragging on and i needed a new car... but you should definitly tell them your not going to accept it!
If they say no then tell them to find you a car of the same condition for that money, then you will have it...

there are a few good looking mx3's on ebay at the moment, i have taken a liking to this one
along with an mx6 going for around 250.. 2.5 v6 im thinking.

Lol, clicked on the link and it had 16 seconds left!!
Oh well, I've sent a rather angry letter to direct line so we'll see what reply I get. I think I'm definitely gonna have my dad's MX-6.
Leather interior, more power, air con, less miles and the major advantage is that I know it's background. We'll just have to wait and see what the insurance company have to offer….
(thanks to all for info, advice and support)

FINALLY got a settlement through on friday!
Over a year waiting and turning down un-reasonable offers, waiting for promised letters that never arrive, having my no-claims taken away and then put back on, threatening to visit Direct line to get some answers, contacting the financial ombidsmen service, but they've agreed to settle for £1095!!!
The moral of the story is …............. NEVER EVER, EVER USE DIRECT LINE!!!!!!!!
-
Well i am glad you finally got to the end of it, insurance companys are a pain in the ass….
