Standard Bonnet Mods
-
I have a cosworth vent like the one above that i'm hoping to put on in summer above the induction kit to vent a bit of the air out.
Thought also about welding some "eyebrows" on while the bonnets off and sanded down but not sure. Has anyone else done this?
-
personally i dont like bonnet mods on the mx3, or any car for that matter, unless they are factory fitted such as scoobs and evo's etc (the 206 ones were a bit ott for a car like that)
-
The vent would be a good idea but you need to think about water getting in, as for weld on eyebrows, a few have done it and its very good when done 8)
-
Bonnet vents are good for a reason to let the heat out, not a great fan of sticky up vents myself, I like louvres though, look alot more subtle and work very well from experience.
eyebrow mod could work well on your car :)

They look a lot better, plus drawing the heat out it will make it a much happier car
-
Yeh definitely. Already cooked the engine once.
-
Also yeh i would like it as low down and subtle as possible. Will maybe grind it down a bit or something. Need to cut some bits anyway to make it flu underneath. Little worried about cutting the bonnet. Never done that before.

especailly if youve got an extra heat source in there, like a Turbo.
you can either get them stamped in by specalist companys or funnily enough you can buy a sheet of alumium with them already in from B&Q etc.

mark out the lines you want to cut with masking tape, drill holes in each of the corners big enough to fit a handheld jigsaw blade in and away you go.

please tell me that none of those are yours garfy! lol
-
They are both from the projects section on this site!, but no not mine.

Red one looks quite mean!
-
well as my nan used to say, "each to their own"
-
The history is that the red one was tommy d's. The car got broken up, ze engine went to marco and body kit went to kami no mici and became green
It did look good on the red, it had few other mods like slats removed from front bumper, side scoop for intake, oh carbon fibre seats are now with jay!.
There arnt many photos left of it now if you look in project section as photos have been deleted from users photobucket acc.

they look great but a bit ott for what i want.
-
im thinking about the super charged jag vents, but i deffo need the supercharger in first to back up the claim !!
-
just found the thread for eyebrows. General feel is welding them on is best but expensive. Don't think it will be though. Will get a friend to weld it and am doing all spraying myself. All of the paint work is a bit worn anyway so not too bothered about high quality paint job.
-
Have decided welding them on is definitely too big and too fiddly a Job. The head lights seam too bulge out a bit too far. I was thinking couldn't i just get some thin plastic, Attach it to the inside of the bonnet somehow and cut it to the right size. Then just build it up flush with the bonnet with some filler or fibreglass? I know i'm really coming across as an absolute cheepscate on here but such is life.
