DJMARCOPOLO'S - The GREEN RIVET
-
These are my 2 MX's I am currently working on.
The green one is a 1997 1.8 V6 80k miles, I have owned for over a year now, bought it for £800 from a woman who could not afford to run it in plymouth and had let it slip on condition and maintenance, apart from the 2 years she owned it it was fully serviced.
So far with the green one I have done a full service, 3 new wheel bearings, new discs all round with pads, new front callipers, brushed aluminium bezel, set of BBS 5 spoke alloys and enamelled in white, sportex stainless system with 3" tailpipe, all lights front and rear flyeye tinted, custom 1k sony sound system with fully fitted tweeters + mids with twin subs in boot. The lacquer had peeled off the bonnet so to save money replaced the bonnet with carbon printed vinyl. I would have spent more on this but last year I saved 3 MX's from the scrap yard fom lazy owners with small faults. For 2010 so far…...
I have a pair of AIT YOS side skirts to fit
Pair of DTM citreon saxo splitters to fit
Engine enamelling
Custom build sub box in rear either side of boot for more space
Engine management re-map
new condenser to fix the airconThe black/green one is a 1995 1.8 V6 EQUIPE special edition 116k miles
I saved this from a scrap yard in bognor regis, it cost £130 including delivery to southampton from the yard. So far I have fitted new cambelt, new water pump, new wipers and full standard exhaust. For 2010…..
MOT, full service, leather seats repaired, alloys chromed, engine enamelling, replace all brakes discs + callipers, underside spray job, heavy cut and polish to remove strap marks on body, surface rust appearing on sun roof, replace the number plate light mounts.
If I keep this one then the list of things to do for 2010 on the green one will move down to this listI am considering selling one of these in march/april time, it will probably be the green one as the more I find out about the equipe and the little extras and differences that are included that are not available on a standard one is making me want to keep that one more than the green one, if you are interested just send me a PM and ill offer members first choice before listing it

Loving both sets of wheels 8)
The wheels are from a renault clio, found they have the same wheel nut spacing so buying off the shelf wheels I started searching other makes, found them, they are hand painted with white radiator paint (so they dont go yellow with heat) and then spray lacquered.
The equipe wheels are a mess but I have the original sales brochure now and found they are polished aloy rim with the spokes painted silver so will be after putting back to original or all chrome.@e2940586f7:

Thanks, falling more for the equipe now, all the unusual added extras are quite appealling, has lights inside the door locks, the leather SE extras. The leather seats have turquoise stitching unique to the equipe model to match the graphics

how have you found aero wipers on a mx3?
had a set on past vw's but the windscreen is alot less slanted.
do they jump across at speed or are they ok?
-
Nice cars!
Shall you lower any of them?
How does the AIT YOS side skirts look like?
-
Nice cars, how are you planning to remap ECU?? Thought MX3 ECU's were not remappable or are you planning to install new ECU??

They seem to be fine, i had a cheap pair that did not bend properly around the passenger side window but a different brand pair work fine.
These are the set I bought for the new MX £9.99 for set of 3 + 3 free air fresheners and they fit round the screen perfectly.@72fa68149f:

How does the AIT YOS side skirts look like?I cannot lower them as my driveway doesnt have a drop curb and I dont intend to pay the council a years worth of council tax just for £400 of building work.
I cannot find a pic of the AIT YOS skirts on an mx but this is the same skirt fitted to a toyota yaris

I contacted a local company who said they could remap it and I have seen 3 remapped ECU's on ebay sell for MX3's in the past year, I will look into it in more detail and find out.

Right thought I would get my teeth into the Equipe this week as its been stood doing nothing for 3 months since I fitted new cambelt and water pump in january as I have nearly finished fitting out my speedboat for the summer.
This Week I have…......
Purchased a 4" jap style rear box
New filters for the new induction kit and oil breathers
Chrome paint for the OEM alloys
Bought a new radiator with 2 fans fitted instead of just the one standardI spent an evening and painted the engine as pictured below.
This weekend is the big one, exhaust fitted, new front discs + pads new radiator going in, new abs sensors plus new filters and mushroom filter on the induction kit, fit LED and Xenomn bulbs all round and the fly eye on the lights then its an MOT wednesday.
PLUS the EQUIPE is being featured in a promotional film for a cleaning company who are using it as a demo vehicle for their website for its car valeting section as the seats are white velour and filthy and makes an ideal demo caralso a new drive shaft, cv joint and wheel bearing going in the green one too

Lookin good bud :)
What paint did you use for it?
-
Very high temperature enamel at £3.99 a tin
used half of each tin on there
-

-
Looks goodl! :)

Engine bay looking good. How much was the chrome paint for wheels?? Not really heard of a really good chrome paint available TBH, the ones that give quite a good finish are alot of work to do so and very expensive, still I gather you are getting car all tarted up for japfest, will cast my beady eyes over chromed wheels when done and give my honest opinion if you don't mind, Just interested being a paint sprayer LOL

Another Update, now got a specialist marine valeter to have a go at properly cutting away the scratches in the paint, as long as they arent into the undercoat he can make them vanish so that is booked for next week, have also found a local training center who does courses for car dent removal and found like all training colleges they need things to practice on so for £100 I can have a group of students remove the 40-50 car park dents the Equipe has got in its sides and only go without the car for a week.
