£150 is the price of the Tensioner from Mazda. Ford Probe Store sell them for £95. However, as the garage are doing the job let them supply the parts. When they ring up the motor factors they will be told like I was that the part is only available from Mazda i.e £150.
I originally approached my mate, who has his own garage, to get my cam belt changed. He wanted 6 hours to do the job. Think he was relieved when I decided to do it myself. :lol:
lets be clear so as to keep this myth about being pre 94 myth in context!
Both of mine are 1995 Reg, late at that. Both OBDI/3plug, i.e. easy to ZE. Remember just because a car is first registered in say 1996 it could easily be a 93 model, just like yours probably is Rainmaker. I can check anyones VIN on my EPC if anyone wants clarification.
Funny you should say that cos I was lookin for it too on my new one but it aint there…. my first one in my signature pic with the blingy wheels had it but that was an early one however my newer one doesnt so maybe its just the early ones that had it...
@873352b997=Nathan:
Whats that….I havent heard of that before and is it common on these cars?
**Not particularly.
Dieselling is when a cylinder fires without a spark (it's how diesel engines work). Essentially you have a hot spot somewhere in the piston - usually a bit of crap stuck in there - and the cylinder fires using any unburned fuel hanging about. Can be caused by crap, squiffy timing or running excessively rich/lean - if you've not noticed a crap fuel economy (low 20s or less), you can probably rule out the last two.**
@51d368f551=djmarcopolo:
Eunos presso went on sale in japan in 1991 like all the other mx3's woldwide but the reason yours is 1998 is because that was the first registration date in the country and they check with the vin number the year of manufacture most are J plate because the law in japan states that no car over 8 years old is allowed to be on the road, this keeps their economy ticking over and cars safer over there, yours maybe the very first launch one or demo car before they went on general sale and this is why it was registered on the year previous or you may have a private plate that someone bought with their initials on it.
Mine isn't a private plate (same last 3 letters as lots i've seen in the area). I was also the first registered uk keeper, sold it then got it back :lol:
I'm guessing that mine must have been registered in Japan prior to august '91 (may/jun/jul) which is why it is on H plate.
Would that be correct :?:

Used to post on PH but it is like a TVR owners club.
**There's quite a good reason for that. It was set up by a TVR Owners' Club.
Generally, though, they're a quite self-important bunch. If it's FWD it's evil - like they all knew the Focus RS would be awful with 300hp and FWD and should have been 4WD and not a man amongst them has yet admitted to being wholly wrong on this front.
I find they're largely the same bunch who used to populate the Impreza OC, Scoobynet. Their pet car is the best and nothing else can touch it - until they get bored of it and upgrade (generally to a newer Impreza, a Porsche 911 or a TVR) and then that's the new best thing. So long as you know how to deal with trolls - and those of you who know my other sites know that I do :D - you can post on PH.
Still, give them credit. The MX-3 is rating well above average and at 65% (or 6.5 out of 10) it'd be enough to get a 1st class degree…
(incidentally, there is one utterly awesome, must-read series of threads on PH by my good friend Reg Local. Read them - I'll dig out a link tomorrow)**

Thanks guys for the feedback im convinced so gonna do it! ordered the vinyl so will get a pic up once done!! :D
Good laaaad. I'm thinking of doing it to mine to, so pics will help me with the decision, it's that, or spray it matt black…..
When I owned RSRoadkillas old MX3 I decared all the mods including £2000 worth of paint job and bodykit and had an agreed insurance value of £3500 for the car.
But you would get a pretty decent fix at a cheap garage for £850, if you can get someone to do it as a foreigner you should be able to get the whole car painted (only in same colour at that price though)
POTN
What they do is take your order, then try and find the part from one of their suppliers.
There prices are often well out of date on the websites and they often cannot get the parts anymore and also are well known for eventually saying that they cannot get the part at the advertised price.
I've rang them a few times to get prices but they basically told me that they don't know, how much or if they could get it anymore and it was still advertised on their website.
Get it lowered and some decent rubber.
I've never had trouble with mx3 handling. In fact I find the car does what I want. If I want it to fill the road with tyre smoke on corners just nail the throttle and ta da one wheel drive!
On flat roads I've had no problems it's very solid, On hilly roads it's a bit twitchy hit a corner with nose facing down found braking puts all weight at front and back is insanily light!
Although I've not had experience of the oem shocks as mine were leaking as soon as I brought it so lowered it on lejous springs and bilsteins shocks.
Had ecstas on oem 15 rim ( very good ) now on 17 yokohamas parda also very good.
Oh I also have jdm limiter! Is very annoying as car hits limiter backs off then kicks in at full throttle and throws a nice flame! There is a wire to cut but does make car run slightly rich so I would run it via a key switch. Consult mechanic on forum as I believe he has done mod.
