Have you tried pulling up codes to see if there are any faults??
When I done my KLZE engine transplant, I had a problem that engine would not start, it was just turning over but not firing, found out to clean a connector in engine bay, car started then! May be completely wrong but you have nothing to lose eh? The connector is located near the water filler cap on the engine, not the rad, I think it is green, uncouple it and spray some WD40 to clean connectors, failing that I don't know :( Failing that, try UKPOC forum, they are quite helpful on there…..................
If you can pull codes that will help: How To Pull Engine Codes
To me it sounds like what happened when my distributor was dying. Particularly the starting again bit.
yeah it's really not too difficult…
2 bolts between the headlamps, 2 screws on the sides to connect the fender and bumper and then 2 or 3 nuts on each side that bolt the support to the chassis... (basically everything you already know in the diagrams :))
@fb93b363c1=mx3gulf:
Most cars are m12 and 1.5 pitch, including mazdas, normally its vans/trailers with m14 pitch, If you are still not sure though, lookup on net, but mx3 is m12 1.5 pitch
Cheers bud, that's all I needed, blue wheel nuts here we go :lol:
And no need to justify to the missus as she's buying them for me for christmas, oh yeyar :twisted:

@ee1c762cef=Marco:
That's very decent. I suppose I'd do it for £140 for cash in the pocket. Pity no one owns mx-3s here!

The official 1993 the 'special edition' was only in white, with different wheels and interior.
They made post 1993 Special Editions in Black with leather stitched gearknob and leather look black 3/4 panels in the back. They also say that they are special editions on the sticker near the drivers door latch.
In the UK there was also the 'Equipe' and the 'Gold Label' Editions.
You can spot a gold label as the badge on the back and the center caps on the wheels are gold. ( only ever seen one of these )
60k is about major service time so its worth doing the lot especially if you intend keeping it for a while, in southampton a major service would be about £300 and the clutch I know I have had one done would be £350 but london prices are higher, got any friends or family outside london, stay with them and book it in for a couple days
Sounds like typical mazda prices probably charging about £90 per hour
For a major service, buy everything you need yourself because most people will add 25% on for buying for you, search the net + ebay
Plugs - 6 x NGK 4 spark plugs £25
Cambelt £35 ish
Leads £60
OIL filter £8
Fuel Filter £12
OIL - 5l - £25
Water pump - £40
Buy it all yourself then book a mobile mechanic to do it for you then its all labour and independants with no overheads charge less than a garage and a lot less than a dealer probably £30-40 an hour but get a deal out of him and make him price it and stick to the price beforehand,
I did a cambelt over christmas and all the marks are easily visible and the whole thing should take 10 hours for the full service + cambelt on your own with reasonable car knowledge.
I have posted in the general section the workshop manual so you can check out how easy it is to do the basics if you want to save more money
